So what other activities can you choose from? Well how
about a walking holiday, fishing on the hill lochs, abseiling and archery
in picturesque Marybank, sailing or windsurfing off the coast of Skye,
canoeing on a beautiful Highland sea loch, mountain biking and white water
rafting among the spectacular hills of Lochaber or test your skills at
clay pigeon shooting and off-road driving against the truly dramatic
backdrop of the Cairngorms. It is a difficult choice! There is always
something exciting to do wherever you go during your Scotland vacation.
Climbers and walkers, as well as touring visitors with
whom you fall into conversation (in the bar in the evenings), will have
their favourite area for their Scotland vacation within the Highlands.
Some will favour the western peninsulas - Ardnamurchan, Moidart and Morar
- with their characteristic oak woods and grey crags. Others are drawn to
the wide skies and long vistas of Caithness. Here the "Flow Country" is
characterised by lonely lochans and unique communities of marsh plants and
birds, in a seemingly endless landscape rolling out to distant hills. |
