The Cuillins, Isle of Skye

Travel through the Highlands of Scotland, or on Skye and
you are sure to be struck by the sheer diversity of the landscapes. The
spectacular sandstone rock-terracing of the Torridons, the dark and craggy
basalt of the Cuillin Hills of Skye, the vivid greens of the plant life on
the rich limestone around Inchnadamph in Sutherland - all are typically
Highland, yet each is different. The way the rock weathers, its colour and
content dictate the shape of the land and what grows upon it - something
you will notice wherever you travel. |
