Inverness Riverside

The river flows through the centre of the city, the water
is clear and fast flowing during the winter months when the water levels
are very high due to the snow thawing on the hills . On the right in the
picture above, is Inverness Castle, a fine view of the city can be seen
from castle hill. There is much wildlife on the river - dippers, wild
ducks, swans, seals and the occasional deer. A fascinating and interesting
time can be spent watching the fishermen casting their flies in the
middle of the river in the summer time from one of the many seats, in
sheltered places around the riverside. Many salmon are caught, daily
fishing permits can be purchased from local fishing shops. |
